Literacy Footprints Reading Expectations

At Rocky Hill, we use a program called Literacy Footprints to teach reading. The expectations below are general guidelines for grade level reading goals based on the Literacy Footprints system.

We use STAR as a tool to monitor your child's progress throughout the year in grades 3-5. Students take STAR Reading 3 times a year. The Instructional Reading Level (IRL) on the STAR Reading report indicates the grade level year and month. For example, an IRL 3.5  would indicate that a student is reading in the 3rd grade, 5th month level.

The color keys at the top of each page indicate what each color represents in terms of the level and grade expectation.
