Character Counts!
The CHARACTER COUNTS! Program
CHARACTER COUNTS! is a nationwide initiative which embraces six core values common to a democratic society that allows teachers, parents and community members to build and develop character in youth. CHARACTER COUNTS! is religiously and politically neutral. The six core values -- Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship -- transcend cultural, religious and socioeconomic differences.
We hold monthly assemblies to honor students for the six pillars of character, as well as other traits. Teachers nominate students of character through the Tulare County Office of Education (TCOE) in October.
